Gabby Reece’s Take Control Of Your Health Challenge Day 14
Today try and drink just water; no soda, no lemonade, no juices. If you want some fruit juice, eat some fruit!
WHY WATER
Skin
- To avoid dry, itchy and flaky skin, increase your water intake. Plain old H2O hydrates your body from the inside out, giving your skin a fighting chance against the elements. We recommend that you aim for at least 8 glasses of water per day.
Bloating
- Adequate water intake is critical for normal cell metabolism (not to
mention dehydration causes bloat, fatigue and cravings!).
Alcohol
- If you have alcohol, choose a small glass of wine or light beer.
Drink a glass of water in-between to keep from bloating.
Fitness
-Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and prevent exhaustion
How can you get in the water you need for great hydration?
Start by having one to two glasses every meal and carry a bottle around with you in-between meals. Keep a bottle of water in your car, at your desk at work and nearby at home, so you can just grab and go. If you aren’t used to drinking a lot of water, start very slowly and build your way up. Drinking too much too soon can actually cause bloating.
WEIGHT LOSS
How can something as simple as water help you to lose weight? Water, though simple, is critical for weight loss. In fact, being adequately hydrated will help you to reach your goals at a faster pace. When you’re dehydrated, your body holds on to water weight because it is not getting enough. The same happens when you drastically reduce calories; your body will actually hold on to stored body fat as a protection mechanism. It sounds strange but when you take in enough H2O, your body actually releases stored water weight. Many people are holding on to an extra 5 pounds or more, simply because they are dehydrated.
Being adequately hydrated also helps you to beat sugar cravings. Ever notice that when it’s hot outside, you crave foods like fruit and ice cream? This is because your body is actually craving fluids. Water also helps to keep you satisfied.

GABBY’S MESSAGE
If you are not drinking water regularly this may be tough for you to remember to do. There are some days I think back and recall I didn’t drink much water. Try and get into the habit.
I hope you are getting a chance to take your walk and get some sleep! For those coffee drinkers, hang in there it will get better soon. The first three days are the toughest!
