The question I get asked the most is, “I never have enough energy…what can I do? Your energy levels change throughout the day, varying from hi to low. Start paying attention to these energy shifts: What did you just eat; are you stressed; has it been more than 2-3 hours since eating something; did you have sugar or caffeine about 1 hour prior to feeling tired; did you sleep well the night before; did you eat heavier foods the previous evening? So many factors can affect our energy, and when you have more than one factor simultaneously playing “Tug of War” on your energy, you feel lethargic. Did you know that food digestion takes more energy from your body than anything else?
Let’s take a look at different natural products and tips that will aid in your journey to greater energy.
- High energy & antioxidant berries such as Acai, Schizandra, Rhodiola, and Goji Berry
- Cordyceps Mushroom – Great for overall energy and immune system (this is a favorite with athletes needing that long endurance boost
- Green Tea/Matcha Tea – Keeps the energy, stamina, focus and metabolism going
- Yerba Mate Tea – good energy boost and great replacement for coffee
- Green Superfoods – Wheat, Barley and other green grasses, Blue-Green Algae, Sea Vegetables, Spirulina, Chloryphyll, (high in Iron, minerals, Aminos, B vitamins, and natural energy)
- Eleuthero Ginseng, also known as Siberian Ginseng
- CoQ10 – Great for the heart, the brain, cellular energy, immune system, and even amazing for your gums
- Ashwaganda (Ayurvedic Herb) – An adaptogenic herb that increases the body’s overall energy
- Exercise!!! Increase that circulation and get that oxygen flowing throughout the body…the more you exercise the more energy and endurance you receive
- Avoid heavy meals – Eat smaller amounts throughout the day
- Minimize red meats; try to avoid pasteurized cow-based dairy; and eliminate processed white flour, rice & sugar
Foods that come in a bag are highly processed and dead are ready after 2 minutes in the microwave and are preserved long enough to sit on your shelf for 2-10 years are probably not natural energy foods. Keep it simple and eat lots of fresh foods found in their natural state!
